As a full-time faculty member in the Visual Media Design Department at City College in San Francisco, I teach classes related to web and media production. Visual Media Design
VMD 127 – User Experience:
This class focuses on industry-standard concepts and vocabulary used in User Experience (UX) for interactive projects, including interface design, information architecture, and UX principles, processes, and techniques. Students explore key topics of user-centered design through a series of hands-on exercises and projects. In Spring 2014 we focused on the Covered California Health Care web site and created mobile apps for the final group project. VMD 140 – Web Production I
This class is an overview of web planning and production through a hands-on approach. Topics include: project briefs, wireframes, site maps, competitive analyses, research, wireframes, and design and production techniques, including WordPress, HTML5 and CSS3. Assignments focus on pre-production planning and production of web sites. More information about this class, including the syllabus, can be found on the class web site. Credits transfer to CSU.
